About
Hi, I’m Kate Fisher. I’m design strategist & researcher for an equitable and responsive public sector. Currently I am at the Lab at OPM, a federal government innovation team, using applied research, capacity building, and participatory design toward strengthening government.
Before the Lab, I was helping 3×3, United Nations, and various social organizations collaborate with their stakeholders and glean insights from applied research to frame, design, test, and measure innovative plans, programs, and policies. More recently, I have been:
_ Supporting Federal Agencies respond to the recent Executive Orders in support of racial equity, inclusion, diversity, and engagement with underserved communities
_ Supporting federal agencies deliver services more equitably and effectively, especially for those who have been historically underserved
_ Strengthening direct lines of feedback and mechanisms for engaging the American people in the design and improvement of Federal Government programs, processes, and services
_ Building overall organizational capacity in the federal government for service design, customer experience, and human-centered design
_ Exploring opportunities for a stronger and more responsive national re-employment system
_ Using ethnographic and design-led research methods to support shared decision-making within the chronic pain community around opioid guidance
